Health Technician (Paramedic)

Use emergency communication techniques and equipment. Assesses the scene and recognizes the need for additional resources and requests them as needed. Responds to emergency calls by vehicle, boat, helicopter or fixed wing aircraft and foot utilizing a knowledge of local roads, park lands, and adjoining response areas. Safely operate emergency medical vehicles under all weather and traffic conditions. Complies with traffic ordinances, laws, and National Park Service (NPS) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) pertaining to operation of emergency vehicles. Conducts a complete patient assessment using advanced knowledge of anatomy, major body systems, and emergency medical techniques. Determines the nature, extent and seriousness of the patient's condition. Provides appropriate advanced treatment as outlined in applicable Emergency Medical Services (EMS) protocols at the scene, during transport, or until care is transferred. Assists with moving, lifting, and carrying patients to emergency vehicles. Performs patient triage during multi casualty incidents. Properly utilizes legal aspects of EMS when providing care. Communicate in oral and written format with other medical personnel. Utilizes emergency communication techniques and operates communication equipment. Performs safety and maintenance inspections on emergency vehicles and equipment. Makes minor repairs on vehicles and equipment and coordinates major repairs and maintenance. Ensure Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) supplies and equipment are properly stocked and in operational order. Assists in planning and provides training for emergency personnel in various related EMS topics. All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement 03/03/2020. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect either full-time or 40 hours per week. If a part-time work schedule is reflected, the hours must be annotated to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. SELECTIVE FACTOR:
This position performs Emergency Medical Services and must possess current certification as an EMT-P (Paramedic). Certification through NREMT (National Registry of EMT's) is preferred, but current paramedic certification through a state agency will be accepted. Candidates who do not meet this requirement by close of this announcement will receive no further consideration for this position. - AND - To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience includes, but are not limited to, the following:
experience in obtaining patient vital signs and performing venipuncture and initiating intravenous (IV) therapy; experience using various types of medical emergency equipment such as EKG, telemetry/defibrillator, suction, etc.; experience determining the basic causes and medical implications of closed and open soft tissue wounds and stabilizing patients as established by protocols. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION:
Successful completion of at least 1 full academic year of progressively higher level graduate education with major study in a medical field. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
