Personnel Security Specialist (MPP-LRT)
Serves as the regional administrator for the Electronic Questionnaire Information Processing (eQIP) System and Personnel Investigative Processing System (PIPS). Initiates and adjudicates National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation cases utilizing documentation from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and by conducting analysis of potentially adverse or derogatory information. Performs personnel security work associated with the execution of the Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) and the Personal Identification Program. Serves as the Lower Colorado Region (LCR) Security Specialist for the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) program, performing adjudication determinations based on the results of fingerprint checks to OPM for employees and contractors. In order to qualify for the GS-11 grade level, your resume must reflect one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service; OR a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR LL.M., if related. Experience analyzing, evaluating, and adjudicating background investigations and reports of investigation for suitability including making final adjudicative determinations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
