Biological Science Technician (Temporary) (DEU-LRT)
Prepares samples, data tables, species lists, and reviews data to find and correct errors. Collects biological and habitat data during outdoor field investigations using a wide range of equipment and methods. Conducts mathematical analysis of numerical data and presents summaries to staff biologists. Prepares correspondence and documents activities and results of research, and monitors projects in the form of trip reports and study summaries. Inventories targeted species, documents breeding activity, and records physical condition, population demographics, and habitat parameters. GS-05:
In order to qualify for the GS-05 grade level, your resume must reflect 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level -OR- Completion of a bachelor's degree with major study or a least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses including biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. At least 6 semester hours in any combination of courses must be directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized Experience for GS-05:
Defined as practical experience with field study sampling techniques, methods, and procedures. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must be clear when describing your experience, we may not make assumptions in determining qualifications.
