Responsible for advising Bureau of Reclamation and Area office management and staff on the technical, regulatory, and policy requirements for full compliance with numerous cultural resource and Indian laws.Exercises professional judgment in planning and implementing, through the Lower Coloardo Region's cultural resources management team, cultural resource inventory and resource management initiatives on BOR lands in order to identify, protect, and interpret threatened and endangered structures and sites. Assists with the management and coordination of the Lower Colorado Region's museum property and curation initiatives, archaeological data base management and maintenance activities, and public outreach programs.Serves as team member on various program, project, and study teams to ensure technical, legal, and policy compliance with cultural resource and Indian laws and regulations; in particular, Sections 106 and 110 of NHPA. Incumbent is responsible for conducting Section 106 consultation with the State Historic Preservation Officers of California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico as may be required.May serve as the LCR's Indian trust asset (ITA) coordinator. Provides policy and professional advice to Regional, Denver, and Washington Offices regarding the procedures required to implement ITA responsibilities. Recommends measures to consider and minimize effects to ITAs. Reviews findings presented in NEPA documents about the consideration of ITAs.Reviews, analyzes, interprets, and provides written comment on proposed laws, regulations, and policies affecting cultural resources and Native Americans. Assists in the revision and/or development of BOR instructions, technical guidelines, and procedures related to cultural resource compliance. Maintains liaison with state and Federal agencies, regulatory entities, and Indian tribes to provide and obtain the most current policy and guidance related to compliance. A. 1. Degree:
that included three (3) semester hours in each of the following areas:
(a) history of archeology.(b) archeology of a major geographical area such as North America or Africa.(c) regional archeology, archeological cultures, or sites in a specific part or portion of a major geographical area to acquire or develop a foundation for regional specialization for professional development.(d) theory and methods of archeology. Methods include but are not limited to typology, classification, sampling, cultural evolution, diffusion, dating and analytical techniques.(e) archeological field school to provide a basic understanding of theoretical and practical approaches to research design implementation, field preservation techniques and report preparation by participation in actual field workANDsix (6) semester hours of related course work in:
- geography, geology, or cultural geography;- history, historiography, or historical archeology;- environmental studies;- scientific writing (nonfiction English composition); and/or- surveying.ANDArcheological field school.ORA. 2. RELATED CURRICULUM - Degree in anthropology (with emphasis on ethnology, physical anthropology, or scientific linguistics), history, American studies, or related discipline may be accepted as satisfying in full the education requirement, provided the curriculum supplies the academic course work sufficiently similar to the basic requirement (including archeological field school).ORB. EXPERIENCE - Four years of archeological work experience which demonstrated that the applicant has acquired a thorough knowledge of the fundamental principles and theories of professional archeology. The work experience must have included archeology field experience, which may include that gained in an archeological field school. Field experience should include a combination of professional experience in archeological survey, excavation, laboratory analysis and preparation of written materials. Applicants with such field experience should, after additional experience under the direction of a higher graded archeologist, be able to demonstrate the ability to be a crew chief, directing the work of others at a single location as a part of a larger archeological project.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
In addition to meeting the Basic Education Qualification Requirements, in order to qualify for the GS-12 grade level, your resume must reflect one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in Federal service; applying cultural resources management policies and procedures to determine and evaluate cultural properties; conducting cultural resource investigations; advising agency management on cultural resource issues; managing museum property; working with complex project that include working directly with both Native American Tribes and their respective State historic Preservation Offices. Experienced in technical, legal and policy compliance with cultural resource and Indian laws and regulations; in particular, sections 106 and 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly reflect the experience/education listed above. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
