IT CyberSecurity Specialist (MP-MW)

Provides support and assistance for assignments and projects relative to information systems and/or cybersecurity matters. Assists higher-graded specialists in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security policies, procedures, and tools. Performs structured, routine and recurring implementation activities; implements measures to ensure awareness and compliance; and identifies the need for changes based on new security technologies or threats. Participates in highly structured, entry-level work associated with the implementation of systems security policies, guidelines and procedures related to web-based applications, network, and systems designs. This includes initial design, system lifecycle change review, and configuration management. Participates in gathering and analyzing basic facts for identifying and writing specifications to meet IT security requirements. Assists employees and supervisors on security issues; participates in testing and implementation of new security technologies; and carries out measures to ensure awareness and compliance. Provides support in periodic systems security evaluations, audits, and reviews. Identifies and resolves recurring problems in response to customer reported issues, and researches, evaluates, and provides feedback on problematic trends and patterns. In order to qualify for the GS-05 grade level your resume must reflect one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level in Federal service AND the competencies listed below. Specialized Experience is defined as experience implementing the requirements of the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) of 2002 and Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA) of 2014; experience implementing IT security processes, procedures, and guidance to comply with Federal laws, Executive Orders, regulations, and policies; and experience implementing Configuration and Change Management processes. OR Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required developmental or adaptation or applications, systems or networks. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
