### Summary
This is an interdisciplinary position - p osition may be filled by: Hydrologist, GS-1315 or Natural Resource Specialist, GS-0401.
You can make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting increasing water demands while protecting the environment.
LOCATION: Lower Colorado Region, Boulder Canyon Operations Office, Water Accounting and Verification Group, located in Boulder City, NV.

### Responsibilities
This is an interdisciplinary position that may be filed in any of the following series: GS-1315 or GS-0401 depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
At the full performance level, incumbent:
Coordinates the actions of a multi-disciplinary team to evaluate and develop methodologies to calculate Colorado River tributary consumptive use within nine use categories including, agriculture, evaporation and municipal and industrial use.
Leads or participates in the Consumptive Uses and Losses (CUL) program; Inadvertent Overrun and Payback Policy (IOPP) program; Intentionally Created Surplus (ICS) program; Well Inventory project; Water Accounting program; and Remotely-Sensed Data Collection (RSDC) program.
Develops plans, procedures and precedents used by members of the Lower Colorado region to perform field verification of conservation activities performed by water users in the Lower Colorado Region?s area of responsibility.
Develops written and photographic reports of the verification activities for use in determining the adequacy of implementation of conservation measures.
Trains new personnel and performs ground reference data entry into a geographic information system (GIS) database and completes routine updates of spatial features and associated attributes in a GIS database.

### Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must first meet the Basic Education Qualification Requirements listed below:
QUALIFICATIONS FOR GS-1315, HYDROLOGIST:
1. Degree: physical or natural science, or engineering that included at least 30 semester hours in any combination of courses in hydrology, the physical sciences, geophysics, chemistry, engineering science, soils, mathematics, aquatic biology, atmospheric science, meteorology, geology, oceanography, or the management or conservation of water resources. The course work must have included at least 6 semester hours in calculus (including both differential and integral calculus), and at least 6 semester hours in physics. Calculus and physics, as described above, are requirements for all grade levels.
OR-
2. Combination of education and experience: course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Acceptable experience must have included performance of scientific functions related to the study of water resources, based on and requiring a professional knowledge of related sciences and the consistent application of basic scientific principles to the solution of theoretical and practical hydrologic problems.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR GS-0401, NATURAL RESOURCES MANAGEMENT:
1. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR-
2. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
In addition to meeting the educational requirements above:
GS-07: In order to qualify for the GS-07 grade level, your resume must reflect one year of full time specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level OR 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement.
Specialized Experience for GS-07: experience collecting, measuring, analyzing, or interpreting water resources data and preparing reports on the data.
GS-09: In order to qualify for the GS-09 grade level, your resume must reflect one year of full time specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level OR 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree.
Specialized Experience for GS-09: experience applying water resource data to studies related to water supply, agricultural, or environmental issues; performing hydrologic research on water and water resources; AND collecting, measuring, analyzing, and interpreting water resources data.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

This position has a mandatory education requirement; you must furnish a copy of your transcript of college work completed (unofficial copy is acceptable). Transcripts must include the name of the college or university and date the degree was conferred. Non-submission will result in you being rated not qualified for the position.
Foreign Education : To receive credit for education completed outside the United States, applicants must show proof that the education has been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and such education has been deemed at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs. Failure to include this verification with foreign transcripts will result in an incomplete application.

### How You Will Be Evaluated
You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

KSA# 2. Knowledge of theories, principles, practices, equipment, software, and techniques of remote sensing including computer assisted digital data classification, image manipulation, and statistical analysis.
KSA# 3. Ability to communicate technical concepts to others orally or in writing. Ability to prepare written correspondence, specifications, and reports that require minimal revision.
KSA# 4. Knowledge of geographic concepts including such things as scale, map projections, and datums. Ability to interpret basic geographic maps such as USGS 7.5 minute topography sheets and locate oneself in the field using maps, satellite imagery or aerial photography.
KSA# 5. Knowledge of agricultural practices and plant identification techniques needed to conduct ground reference data collection.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster.
